Is it really that stupid?

Post by Ballzout »

:violin It's been 4 1/2 weeks now since I broke my arm and the green hard cast that goes from my knuckles almost to my elbow is nothing but a pain in the ass these days. I haven't had pain since the 2nd week. I use my arm just much as normal aside from the limited twisting and wrist movement from the hard cast. Push-ups are no problem any more.

It's April, and I wanna get in some more turns before the season is completely shot. Wisp Resort (a local joint here in Maryland) is opening one last time this upcoming weekend. Also, there's still a couple more weeks I can come to Killington. I never fall unless I'm doing or trying to do something ridiculous. Just cruising, I stay on my feet all day. Besides, I'm wearing a hard cast!

I let my woman know that I'm thinking about getting a day or two more before it's too late and she tells me "THAT'S THE STUPIDEST THING SHE'S EVER HEARD!!!" :!:  :!: Other people (non-skiers/boarders) say it's crazy and I should have quit sport all-toghether  Yeah, whuteva!

Am I being unrealistic???

Hate to say this, but maybe you need a new woman. Wanting to make turns in April or May is a passion and if she don't get it, you got problems. :Toast

My niece fractured her wrist playing indoor soccer, not only did she continue playing soccer, she skied with us for three days shortly after her injury with a similar cast . . . I'd say go for it  . . . maybe just ski though 8)

I'm not a doctor but I drove past a Holiday Inn Express last week and I say DO IT!
The cast could come in handy if some ski nazi tries to take your ticket for poaching.
There's always the 4th Annual Bay One Snowbird trip in May if you want to rest it a little longer.

some years ago I had fractured my left wrist (my lead arm) and it was in a cast. I continued to ride that season actually using the cast to bash small trees out of my way in the woods.

Just do it. You'll be fine. There's plenty of protection from the cast. Might be a little awkward with the weight on one arm and you won't be able to do anything too difficult, but you should be fine. Then again, what did you expect to hear from people on KZone? Don't go?  I also get people that look cross-eyed at me also when I tell them I snowboard and recommend I quit. Yeah, ok. Just ignore them. They have no clue and I don't even try to explain to them why I do it. It's a lost cause. I can't even get these same people to go for a simple bike ride or a stupid round of golf...

Do it. You can always get a new cast and/or girlfriend!

that cast ran from his knuckles to his armpit. he just zipped his arm/cast inside his jacket and continued riding all season:

I skied with a cast, a dislocated shoulder, jammed thumbs, huge hematoma on my calf, etc.

You know what to do.....
