Friends and Family? How many free tickets do you guys get?
like doc says after a number of years of service your wife & then kids get passes though they've been blacked out weekends so far this season. i think the friends & family, ski is talking about (at least for patrollers & ambassadors) is the ability to buy discounted day tickets. i believe they capped it off at 12 tickets for the season. certain other staff may have a similar deal.

during the first year of full time work, or the second year of parttime work, the family gets a dependent pass. all staff, full or part time, get two discounted tickets per day. the employee needs to be with the friends or family. $49 for saturday and peak, $29 for other days. there's no limit, but employees that abuse the benefit get it taken away from them. what's allowable is different for ambassadors and others.

Wrong . . . the program has changed this year . .. the rate is 50% off regular ticket price...... 4 per day allowed . . .. 12 per season total . . . . .. It has absolutely nothing to do with what department you are with . . . All staff are eligible with the exception of part-time on-call and temp . . .

Doc, make up your mind.

Waiting in line for the Glades Triple and they announced there was an accident up top and after 5 minutes or so they shut it down. Looks like it is down for the day. What happened?

We were the last chair before the accident. The person got off the chair and somehow the chair went up and back into the bull wheel. It was jammed into the apparatus around the top of the bull wheel that looks like a horizontal snow fence. It looked like if someone somehow was in the chair they would have been impaled by that metal snow fence thing. As the chair got jammed up in there it caused a really loud violent noise and the chair stopped dead.

Are you talking about the whitish colored roof of sorts that the chair in the photo just passed? So the support arms or the guide track came undone caught the chair, and dragged the chair upwards?

Coincidentally, I just took this photo last weekend.....

Yes. That is exactly what I mean. I have pictures if I can figure out how to post them from my phone. I'm wondering how they got folks down. Lift ops folks were trying to get the chair unstuck by detaching that metal thing when we left. Ski patrol and others were streaming in from everywhere on snowmobiles when we skied away. Don't know if they got it unstuck or roped people down. Either way I would guess they need to take a good look at the lift for damage.

They put a "Last chair" sign on the chair down at the bottom and they got it rolling real slow.

Wow, scary stuff there . . . thanks for the updates Skivt2 and LINYbob . . . I was in the line as well, but headed out before hearing of an incident at the top . . . such good news to hear nobody was hurt, and that those on the chairs did not have to experience an evacuation . . . :seeya
