L. Wildfire laced up. Though I suspect it'll be a bit with all the repairs to do.

Lower Wildfire would also include the Viper Pit go around. I’m expecting a ton of spot guns, but haven’t seen them deployed. Saturday, with the bigger crowd and faster surface, is going to be “interesting”. Tatro’s work repairing the Woodward aqueduct is completed so there will at least be plenty of (snow making) water. Will post some pix later, been holding them back until the excavation was filled in.

Broken? Relax, merely leaking, but apparently bad enough that the mountain undertook an expensive fix which shut down the pipe for several days during this warm spell. It wouldn’t have been in use anyway.

It doesn’t show on the trail map AFAIK, only on the app’s version. And it’s not open.

Rising temperatures, humidity in the mid 90’s, and a holiday weekend crowd that is gun shy. Guns are on at elevation. Patience.

obviously they're not gonna change anything but the trail nomenclature there doesn't make sense. if it was up to me, skyeburst would run straight down the mtn and not make that left to the pit and would include what's now lower wildfire. wildfire would end at that intersection w skyeburst. bear claw would continue across skyeburst and include the viper pit to the bottom. but there is history w wildfire as it is one of the 2 original trails on bear so they're gonna stick w that. of course anti-venom would branch off skyeburst as an escape route from the pit.

bear claw came during the 2nd wave of trail development at bear. when asc took over, they renamed it bear trap, blocked off that lower section where shorty comes into it and routed it right where it merges w upper wildfire. bear claw became a newly created trail (now called shorty?) off of shagback and crossed over skyeburst (which ended there) and continued through the viper pit to the base. grizzly was called slider.

Yeah Newpy - I know where Grizzly is. Just like last year, I keep commenting on it hoping K will take notice and get the App trail status right.
