Skiing Pico-Killington Connector Trail

Post by BluesForAllah »

Was going to attempt next week, any advice, insight or stories about skiing this? Is it worth it?

I've done it . . basically a 4 mile green run... sometimes groomed sometimes not . . . If you want to get to the lift at Rams you will have to cross a major creek drainage that probably will not have an adequate snow bridge right now. . .

It's flat, and they drive groomers over it during the season from time to time so it's maintained.....that's about it. There's not a great deal of point.

It is faster than the shuttle bus.

Best reason is simply because it's there.

You don't want to take it all the way down. You'll end up on the wrong side of Roaring Brook. You'll see a road skiers right that goes into Swirl on Rams Head. You will have to take your skis off and walk a bit back up hill to navigate that section, but it is no big deal.

Spoiler alert.

This is pretty much exactly what to expect in late March about half an hour after a groomer comes through.

The trail rogman is talking about comes in on the right around 2:40

didn't realize it had a slope the entire way too...thought there was definitely some walking involved.

It is probably wide enough to let two groomers pass each other.

This video starts from where the the Long Trail crosses the interconnect. To get here (without going uphill) you need to go through some really tight woods down from the peak.

Powder needs to connect the Interconnect so that everyone can use it legally.
What are they waiting for the permits to expire?
Or maybe they already have.

If it were legal, most of the folks who've skied it would have no interest: as they've noted, it is not particularly challenging.

The almighty $$$$$. To fully open the interconnect in both directions requires 2 chair lifts which ain't happening just yet.
