Every trail on the mountain skied with a boring sameness, until skied off in the afternoon, at which point it became a terrifying death slide. Mind you, that boring sameness was pretty good, just no moguls, bumps, or soft snow anywhere. Except OL. Did I mention OL? The guns were finally shut about 10 AM, by which time the snow was nearly chairlift high on skiers left. An absolute ball, with soft snow for your carving pleasure (Sorry Mr. Ski, I don't own a f'in thesaurus, brontosaurus, stegosaurus, or any other 'saurus, well, maybe I do have a saur ass, but really it's my legs, but I've digressed). So OL was the best I've skied it this year, and far and away the run of the day. Amazing what a little snow making will do. Given the height of the snow pack, hard to believe they are going to slam Bear shut in early April. And given the snow making was concentrated below OL Express, they may be thinking about running the Skye Peak express a bit longer this year. This is the other possibility: I've been told Nyberg is in Oregon. Maybe Jeff Temple and his boys went rogue. Either way, good show!

BTW, should the name of the thread be Saturday, February 4, 2012 or Sunday, February 5, 2012?

Nyberg is in Oregon, helping to celebrate his mother in laws 90th. Also visited his old stomping grounds. Mt B.

Better have this thread deleted so Mountain Ops can make some more snow this week.

Cruise control was a huge improvement over yesterday, just about all of Skye Peak was skiing better. Spot guns on the luge run entering Skylark from the gondola, midway on Skylark, GN, lower Chute. IMWB and I did the Chinese downhill to the Skyship Base, and he slyly ran me off onto Bearly. Finished the day doing high speed laps of a nearly empty GN to Highline, which was machine fresh carving pleasure on GN to boilerplate on the top of Highline and foot thick sugar the rest of the way down Highline. Everything I skied looked like the tillers were set much deeper than usual. Guess I should have checked out OL. 3 guns were lit on Cascade just below the corner at 2:30.

I wonder if the will use the additional snow on OL to widen it?

what rogman said ... ol rocked early. groomers held out til we left early afternoon (cascade still "good" around noon). place was a ghost town today. actually all weekend was thankfully light.

today was the best of our 3 days. sunshine makes skiing groomers so much better. ol was certainly nice but left craving nat snow trails and trees.

do think they have a real problem with the new tower guns on ol. covering a 1/4 to 1/3 width of that trail is unacceptable. perhaps they'll spread this new pile to cover more of the trail.

I skied OL between 9 and 9:30. They were in the process of shutting down the guns. Top was icy but the snow was really nice, bumps and whales playful, trail a little crowded though.

Hit OL at 10am..our 10th run of the day....skiers right in the fast grass was still loads of fun as were the bumps on the left. BUT....ROTD for me had to be Cascade at opening...super high speed courd...followed closely by East Fall.....
I wasnt expecting anything to be good, not sure how Temple and his crew did what they did to the moutain overnight. Great job by them. A beautiful sunny blue sky day, possibly one of the best days Ive had this season.....

Whole weekend was good. Few inches of fresh for Saturday.

Empty on Sunday with the Superbowl. Sunny blue skies. No complaints here

It was pretty good Saturday morning, but by noon those two inches were skied off, and it was a luge course on many trails.

Hit OL around 1ish on Sunday. Not nearly as good as it was on Saturday. Not to many good lines and all the bumps had the OL backs scrapped off of them. Two runs and done for that trail...

We need the woods! Might have to go to Stowe I guess...
