Drought
Good thing we have a storm system incoming. Till then no matter where you are in New England keep fires inside your wood stoves. We've got a really bad situation here at home encroaching on Butternut Basin in the Berkshires, over 1200 acres burned so far. Can't imagine how challenging this would be ...

Re: Snowmaking and Terrain Expansion Thread (2024-2025)
Meanwhile, water limitation at Jiminy Peak right now is definitely not speculation. Liv4ski hiked to the top, and showed me some pics of the reservoirs. Many report to have never seen Kinderhook Creek so low. Predicted heavy NCP this week is much needed. If that were happening in Central Vermont, t...

Re: Opening Day?
Jiminy Peak does not have enough water to make snow I suspect others are in a similar predicament down there. As for Killington, have they been able to offer Upper GN on day one once since they began hosting the WC? I think folks are going to be pleasantly surprised at how the new equipment will al...

Re: EV Charging Questions
About to be on my third season of the RAV4 plug-in hybrid. Best of both worlds in my opinion. I can go 400 miles on a tank of gas at 40 MPG and get an extra 50mi from a full charge. On the state revenue side yes I'm contributing when buying gas but the charging is a big gap. 90% of charging is at ho...

Re: Killington Spring Economics
What you heard is completely correct on OL. The Impulses will throw better than the SV10s that were short lived moons ago. However, they will not throw like an SR/LAB7 tower (not much does) that they replaced. The solution is really hope the prevailing winds help carry or at least don't blow it bac...
Re: Magic Mt
Definitely. More of them going up earlier this week on Lower Magic Carpet too.

This is the kind of assist to a smaller neighbor that is just great to see. Glad some of this older equipment from Killington was put to good use! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/zyU3oAorcBDpQW65/ Excited to install 18 new-to-us 30’ HKD Tower Guns to blanket Show Off top-to-bottom for earlier seaso...

Re: Meeting with new Owners at K1 - 10/09/24
One of the worst deals in skiing is when your home resort is an ikon resort but not unlimited on ikon - you still get the ikon crowds but none of the ikon benefits. Correction - you get some crowds but they are not nearly as bad as the crowds you would get with unlimited Ikon access. I pay for the ...

Re: Killington sale finalized
The future of Pico is cloudy. Anybody who thinks they know what is going to happen there is kidding themselves. One thing we do know about Pico. It makes no profit. Breaking even was only achieved when they reduced the number of days it was open each week. Because of this fact, I have been one who ...

Re: killington sale finalized
. Pico will probably get some love too for 26/27'. I think we might see 2 lifts a year get upgraded at K and possibly 1 at Pico for the next several years. I dunno, I feel like investment in Pico is a different animal. Can't the parts from Superstar and Snowshed keep Golden and Summit running for a...

Re: What Can the New Owners do to Fix K This Season
I've been saying that for years, including directly to the Texas people who backed SP Land. The answer? "We don't own that land." I did not know that - so who owns the land? I assume the resort’s course is owned by the resort and the town’s course is owned by the town. My thought was for ...

Re: What Can the New Owners do to Fix K This Season
It would be pretty awesome if they put half an ounce of effort into the golf course. The course could be great but it is neglected. Simply paving, or even improving, the cart paths would make a world of difference. Making the course 9 holes would be idiotic. GMNGC is a gem. Nothing worse could happ...

For the mountain, at elevation, the scarier of the two is Beech Leaf. That's the primary understory tree for the Green Mountains. It will have massive negative ecological impact.

Re: Is Killington for sale?
If what you want to see is capex focused on lifts and snowmaking, wouldn't Great Gulf be the worst case scenario? Wouldn't it mean all of their focus will be on the village and the other real estate related additions? I keep hearing that it's Great Gulf. If they are selling the real estate thought ...

Re: Is Killington for sale?
Logical buyer would be Great Gulf. They could buy it, keep the present regime in place, then design the village and the resort together without potential for their different interests to collide. Bingo! The split ownership was only devised as a financial lifeline to ASC. Undoing it makes a whole he...
